This one-block plaza and nearby area is one of the largest collection of department stores, upscale boutiques, art galleries, and salons in the Western United States, which continue to make Union Square a major tourist draw and cosmopolitan place in downtown San Francisco, as well as one of the world's premier shopping districts.

Nob Hill refers to a small district in San Francisco, California adjacent to the intersection of California and Powell streets. It is an affluent district, home to many of the city's upper class families.

Fisherman's Wharf is a popular tourist attraction along the northern waterfront of the city. There is still an active fishing community here, as well as a controversial street performer known as the World Famous Bushman.

San Francisco's Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in North America, and one of the largest and most prominent centers of Chinese activity outside of China.

Haight-Ashbury is famously associated with 1960s hippie culture. However, as of late it has became home to expensive boutiques and a few controversial chain stores, although it still retains some bohemian character.

This open-air plaza is a center for music gatherings and also houses one of San Francisco's landmarks.

Opened in 1921, this fine art museum features the collection of early San Francisco newspaperman M.H. de Young.
